Programming and Game Development Course

I have just signed up for the Kodu Game Lab Course which started this Monday and will run for the next five weeks. The course will go through many aspects of game design using Kodu Game Lab, a programming platform developed by Microsoft.

Interestingly, the course has been designed as a 'connectivist' one influenced by the work of Stephen Downes and George Siemens and the desire “that the knowledge in this course emerges as a result of the connections among the [participants] … and is not some ‘content’ shoveled from experts to recipients”.

Looking forward to seeing how it works out. The 'connectivist' model may well prove to be a viable model for this 'Internet era' that we live in!

Oh and it is still not too late to sign up for the Kodu Game Lab Course :-)

Donating Projectors to Schools

Meeting Tomorrow are giving away a projector to 10 schools based on the results of a poll conducted over the Internet. The offer is open to any school located in the United States.

As Zachary Caudill, Community Outreach Manager, explains "Our company wants to give back to the nation’s education system, and hopefully set an example for other companies in our industry to follow suit".

Voting ends 31st March so vote now and vote often!!

Colour Me Beautiful!

ColorJack provides great tools for picking and coordinating colours. The tools include:

* Color Galaxy - online colour library visualizer
* Color Sphere - visualize colour theory. It also comes in widget form
* DHTML Color Picker - pick colours in fine detail
* Color Matrix Library -  colour functions - hue, saturation etc.

Join in the 4C Initiative

The 4C Initiative is all about content, capability, connection and collaboration.

The four stated aims of the 4C Initiative are:
(i) develop a digital content supply network for education
(ii) connect education to a billion digital resources in the next ten years
(iii) help educators and educational institutions worldwide to collaborate
(iv) build local digital content publishing capacity worldwide.

The 4C Initiative will be "providing educators and learners with the skills to discover, use, create and share content with others in the learning community worldwide".

Free training and a resource repository, at The Global Grid for Learning, are being provided.

The free webinars will run from 4th February 2010 to 29th April 2010. Although the first session is already full you can still register for the rest of the series!! Also, don't worry if you can't make the live sessions as all the recordings will be provided.
